Apartment Complex to Address Urgent Housing Need
Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is pleased to announce building of a 74-unit supported housing apartment complex in Bremerton. A mix of studio and one-bedroom apartments will offer a staff supported housing environment 24/7 for Kitsap residents living with severe, persistent mental illness, substance use disorders and other disabling conditions and experiencing chronic homelessness.
KMHS and the Bremerton Housing Authority (BHA) have come together to build the new apartment complex in recognition of the increasing numbers of vulnerable persons living without a place to call home, and the knowledge that when people have a home, their health and well-being improves. KMHS will own and manage the apartments. Through KMHS and community partners, residents will have access to services including behavioral health and primary care, employment, and life skills training.
The facility will be located on a 1.66 acre site on Kitsap Way, zoned for commercial use and located in an area that the City of Bremerton has designated for the development of affordable housing.
